Evaluation Process

Once we receive a doctor’s referral or a parent’s request for services, we will call the parent. We will briefly talk and gather basic information. We will then send an email with a link to our online client portal system. There will be forms to complete, including a parent/guardian questionnaire, consent forms, insurance information, etc. Our online portal system is a HIPAA-compliant secure system.

Initial phone call:

Once all intake paperwork is completed, we will spend about 30 minutes to 1 hour discussing your child’s development, behavior, and skills. You will also have a chance to discuss your current concerns. This parent/guardian-only appointment will be virtual via Zoom. You will receive the link via email within an hour of your appointment. Children should not be present. The virtual meeting must be completed before we can schedule an in-office appointment.

In-Office Testing:

The number of appointments will depend on the presenting concern(s). Usually, assessments are administered across 1-2 appointments. Please ensure that your child gets a full night of sleep and eats breakfast before her or his appointment. We will also likely send online rating scales to parents to complete via email.

Feedback:

After the evaluation is complete, we will meet virtually to review the results and the report. We also will discuss recommendations. This meeting will be via Zoom. We prefer that only parents/guardians be present during this meeting. If you would like for your adolescent to be made aware of any diagnoses, we can schedule an additional meeting where both parents/guardians and the child are present. At the conclusion of this meeting, we will send the comprehensive report in pdf form to your email.
